Snowmobiler killed after crashing into tree in South Glengarry
2nd fatal snowmobile crash in eastern Ontario this week
Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after a man was killed while snowmobiling east of Ottawa Thursday, the second fatal snowmobile crash in eastern Ontario this week.
OPP said their investigation so far shows a 49-year-old man hit a tree while on a trail just south of Concession 9 in South Glengarry Township.
The man since identified as Robert Gagnon was taken to the Glengarry Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
This is the second fatal snowmobile crash in eastern Ontario this week.
Twenty-one year old Alex Miller died Sunday morning when the snowmobile he was a passenger on crashed into a pole near Bainsville, about 40 kilometres east of Cornwall.
The 27-year-old driver is facing impaired driving and driving while disqualified charges.
