A 21-year-old man was killed and another man is facing charges after a snowmobile crash in eastern Ontario.

Ontario Provincial Police say two men were riding a snowmobile at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when the vehicle crashed on a trail near Shaver Road and Colonial Drive in South Stormont Township.

A police investigation discovered the snowmobile was heading north when the driver lost control as he rounded a curve.

The two men were ejected from the vehicle and the passenger, 21-year-old Daniel Andre of South Stormont, struck a tree. Andre was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 22-year-old man driving the snowmobile, also from South Stormont, has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, exceeding 80 milligrams of blood alcohol content and marijuana possession.

The man was held in custody and he was scheduled to appear in a Cornwall court on Wednesday.
