Search for truck driver, witnesses continues after fatal crash

Ottawa police are trying to locate the driver of a transport truck who is believed to have struck and killed woman on Rideau Street early Friday.

Ottawa police continue to search for the driver of a transport truck, which is believed to have struck and killed a woman downtown, as well as possible witnesses to the crash.

On Saturday, police sent out a second call for witnesses who might have seen the pedestrian hit as she walked along Rideau Street near Waller Street at about 6 a.m. Friday.

Police said a B-Train transport truck — a transport truck pulling two trailers — hit the woman and then drove off.

The Ottawa police collisions unit is investigating the crash.

Police said an autopsy has been scheduled on the woman's body.
