School custodian accused of sexually assaulting students
A custodian is accused of sexually assaulting at least five students at an Ottawa elementary school stemming from allegations he inappropriately touched the students.
The principal of the unnamed school reported the allegations to police on March 4 after several students came forward with complaints.
The Ottawa Catholic School Board said it reassigned the custodian to night duties at another location as it waited for the results of internal and police investigations. The 44-year-old Smiths Falls, Ont. man was fired after the man was charged, the school board said.
The man was charged with five counts of sexual interference and five counts of sexual assault. He was scheduled to appear in an Ottawa courtroom on Wednesday.
Police believe there could be more victims.
