#SaveMellos shows residents hoping to save 73-year-old Ottawa restaurant

Mellos, the 73-year-old restaurant on Dalhousie Street in Ottawa, could close by the end of 2015 as neighbouring restaurant Ace Mercado plans to expand and take over. Some customers voiced their displeasure and are hoping to save Mellos.

The owner of Ace Mercado says his restaurant has been the unfair object of scorn after he accepted his landlord's offer to take over the space next door, which has been home to Mellos for more than 70 years. 2:05

Some customers voiced their displeasure on Twitter using #SaveMellos and are hoping to save the restaurant.

The response to our story had #SaveMellos trending.

A petition was even created trying to save Mellos.
