Ottawa firefighters, paramedics and police responded to the crash at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday for a car that jumped the railing and landed on its roof.

When they arrived, the woman was found trapped in her car, which sat in a creek that flows into the Rideau River.

Firefighters were forced to use the Jaws of Life to extricate her from the vehicle. After she was removed, the woman was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Witnesses told CBC News another car “scraped” the vehicle, causing it to swerve towards the railing.

Riverside Drive was closed for about three hours due to the crash.
