A 22-year-old Quebec man had his license suspended and BMW car seized for seven days after police say he was driving on Highway 417 Tuesday at speeds of more than 200 km per hour.

Ontario Provincial Police said officers noticed the car travelling west on the highway in the Russell area at a high rate of speed.

Police said they followed the car at speeds that varied between 200 and 220 km per hour before the driver had to slow down for other traffic.

The 22-year-old man from Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Que.,was charged with street racing and is scheduled to appear in L’Orignal Traffic Court on Oct. 17.
