Quebec family's home destroyed by fire while on vacation
A home north of Gatineau was destroyed by fire overnight as the family living there was away on vacation.
Firefighters arrived at the home in Cantley, Que., near the intersection of Chemin Mont Cascades and Argenteuil Road at about midnight.
They tried to fight the fire from outside but could not stop the flames. The home is a total loss, firefighters said.
Nobody was home at the time and there were no reported injuries.
Neither the cause nor the total damage is known.
This is the second time the volunteer fire service in western Quebec has been called to a major house fire in Cantley over a 24-hour span.
