Ottawa police are looking for the driver of a vehicle who they say could be a potential witness in a collision early Saturday morning that sent a cyclist to hospital in critical condition.

Police said the incident happened at the intersection of Woodroffe Avenue and Knoxdale Road at 2:45 a.m.

The cyclist was travelling west on Medhurst when he collided with a vehicle travelling south on Woodroffe, police said.

The 20-year-old male cyclist is listed in critical condition in hospital.

The driver was not injured, but stayed at the scene after the crash and he is co-operating with police, officials said.

Police say they want to talk to the driver of a vehicle that appears to have been behind the car involved in the crash on Woodroffe and may have seen the crash. They released an image Thursday of the vehicle taken from traffic cameras.

Police continue to investigate the crash and want anyone who witnessed the collision to call Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 2481.
