Police search for missing canoeists in Algonquin Park

Ontario Provincial Police are searching for two missing canoeists whose boats capsized on Opeongo Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park.

19-year-old-man from Mississauga, 21-year-old man from Georgetown missing after canoes capsized May 15

Ontario Provincial Police are searching for two young men from Mississauga and Georgetown, whose canoes capsized on Opeongo Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park on May 15.

Police say the pair was canoeing side-by-side on Thursday evening when their canoes capsized.

Their names have not been released.

The OPP’s Killaloe detachment, its Emergency Response Team, marine units, aviation unit, underwater search and recovery unit are searching the waters with assistance from the Ministry of Natural Resources.
