Ottawa police are searching for a suspect after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted in Sandy Hill early Saturday morning.

The woman in her 20s was walking on Templeton Street near Sweetland Avenue around 1:15 a.m. when she was grabbed by an unknown man and sexually assaulted, police said.

A man in his 20s helped the woman after witnessing the attack, police said.

The suspect headed south toward the University of Ottawa, police said. He is described as six-foot tall, weighing 180 lbs with a medium build. He had short, dark hair with some facial hair. He is believed to be in his mid- to late-20s. He wore a white collared shirt, jeans and smelled strongly of cologne.
