Ottawa police are hoping to track down and talk to a man who helped a sexual assault victim on Friday, Dec. 27.
That afternoon or early evening, a woman in her 20s got into an unknown man's green vehicle on McArthur Avenue and was driven to an unknown location, possibly in the east end, police said in a media release issued Friday.
They then got out of the vehicle and walked to a wooded area, "where the man sexually assaulted and choked her," police said. The victim suffered minor injuries.
The woman told police she managed to escape, and that she was helped by a man driving a red van who drove her to Blake Boulevard and Lafontaine Avenue in south Vanier.
The man who helped the victim is described as white with a reddish beard and short curly hair. He was wearing glasses. Police said they would like to speak to him.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s with a white beard and long hair. He spoke English and was driving a green, older-model, four-door vehicle.
