Intersection of Bank Street and Heron Road opened again almost 4 hours after crash
A pedestrian was taken to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition after he was hit by a car at the intersection of Bank Street and Heron Road.
Paramedics said they were called to the major arterial intersection at 12:50 p.m., where they found an unconscious 27-year-old man with life-threatening head injuries and a fractured leg.
He was still unconscious and in critical condition when he arrived at hospital, they said.
Ottawa police completely closed the intersection and closed Heron Road to Alta Vista Drive as part of their investigation, reopening all roads just after 4:30 p.m.
