Carling Avenue reopened after elderly man struck by vehicle
Ottawa police have reopened the eastbound lanes of Carling Avenue near Edgeworth Avenue after an elderly man was struck by a vehicle on Monday morning.
It happened near the Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre at about 10:30 a.m., according to paramedics.
The man, who paramedics said is in his late 70s, was treated for serious head, shoulder and leg injuries. He was taken to hospital in serious condition, paramedics said.
No other information was immediately available.
The collision happened six blocks west of another crash involving a pedestrian last week.
An 87-year-old woman was struck by a double-decker OC Transpo bus near the Carlingwood Shopping Centre at Carling and Woodroffe avenues on Monday, Jan. 11.
She was taken to hospital for traumatic head injuries and later died.
