Outdoor burn ban lifted in Ottawa
Open air fire ban had been in effect since June 28
Recent rainfall has enabled Ottawa's fire department to lift the outdoor burn ban that had been in place since June 28.
People are reminded that they must get a fire permit before burning anything in the open air. Permits are available at all client service centres and the fire department's rural administrative offices.
Permit holders are then required to call 613-580-2880 before starting any fire to confirm there isn't a burn ban.
"Substantial fines" may be issued to people who don't follow the rules, a media release issued Friday said.
The fire department is also reminding people to be careful while discarding cigarettes and matches.
