Citizens in Ottawa South have gone to the polls today to vote for an MPP to replace former Premier Dalton McGuinty.

The riding has become a political battleground for the three major parties in the province, and while no byelection on Thursday will alter the Liberal Party's status as minority government, it would be a political victory if the opposition parties could take McGuinty's old riding.

Candidates were knocking on doors and getting their messages out on Wednesday, the last day of the campaign.

Voters should check their Notice of Registration Card to determine their election day voting location, or go to Elections Ontario's website to find their polling station.

Polls are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET.
