An Ottawa man has died after being found unconscious Friday on a cross-country ski trail in Gatineau Park.

The man, 62, had been skiing in an "isolated" part of the park's Chelsea district when he was found unconscious at around 1:30 p.m. ET by another skier, the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais said in a news release.

The second skier called emergency services and began performing CPR on the man, police said, while waiting for rescue crews to arrive.

Park employees had to transport the man from the "remote" area of the park by snowmobile, said police.

He was then taken by ambulance to the Hull Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The man's name has not yet been released.
