Ottawa's Koussei Kurbaj crowned Mr. Dubai

Ottawa man Koussei Kurbaj beat out 19 other men to win the Mr. Dubai 2013 pageant.

Kurbaj, 24, was born in the United Arab Emirates, where the competition is being held, grew up in Syria and moved to Canada five years ago.

He was competing with Dubai, United Arab Emirates locals and ex-pats from around the world for the $20,000 prize.

Kurbaj is a wedding planner, choreographer and Algonquin College business administration graduate in Ottawa.

The competition featured modelling as well as a social media component, as Kurbaj had to attract "Likes" to his Facebook page.
