Ottawa River shoreline cleanup helps train police
Ottawa police had a training session that doubled as an Ottawa River cleanup operation on Wednesday morning.
An organization called Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup teamed up with the Ottawa police marine dive and trail unit to dive into the Ottawa River at Lock No. 1 of the Rideau Canal, near Parliament Hill.
The shoreline cleanup organization is now in its 21st year.
In 2013, more than 58,000 volunteers removed more than 98,000 kg of litter from about 3,035 km of shorelines across Canada.
