Ottawa police have released photos of two men they say are suspects in a stabbing last Thursday outside the Carleton Tavern.

Police said they had received reports that four men were fighting outside the bar at 223 Armstrong St. just before 10:30 p.m., at the corner of Parkdale Avenue in Hintonburg.

Paramedics treated a 56-year-old man for life-threatening stab wounds to the stomach.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition but his condition has since been upgraded to stable.

Police described one suspect as a black man, about five feet seven tall and weighing 180 pounds.

He was wearing an Indianapolis Colts football jersey (number 44) and Beats by Dre headphones.

The second suspect is described as black man, about six feet tall and weighing 210 pounds. He had short curly dark hair, a short goatee and wore a white shirt and white shorts, police said.

He also appears to be wearing a reddish coloured backpack, police said.
