Ottawa police search Hog's Back Falls for missing man John Davies
Photographer hadn't been heard from since April 3
Ottawa police have launched an emergency search near the Hog’s Back Falls for a missing Ottawa man.
John Davies, 66, has not been heard from since April 3, according to an Ottawa police news release.
His sister Darlene Davies said she got concerned April 12 when her calls and texts about a procedure he was set to have the previous day weren’t answered.
She said she filed a police report April 17 and police found his Honda Civic at Hog’s Back Falls this past Saturday.
“There was a camera bag in the car and there was no camera; he’s an avid photographer,” she said.
“Last night around 6 they let me know they were doing a land and water search around Hog’s Back.”
Davies said her only guess would be that he slipped and fell while trying to take a picture.
Ottawa police crews could be seen securing ropes to go down the embankment and search the Hog’s Back Falls area, which is near Carleton University and Mooney’s Bay Park in central Ottawa.
Davies had been described as white with short blond and grey hair, 5'9" tall, medium build with a reddish grey beard.
