Ottawa police officer charged with impaired driving
Sgt. Mark Barclay, 55, charged after Thursday evening incident
An off-duty Ottawa police officer has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after an incident Thursday evening.
Sgt. Mark Barclay, 55, was charged Friday with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
He was released with a promise to appear and is next scheduled to appear in court on Mar. 25.
Barclay has been assigned to administrative duties, Ottawa police said. Ottawa police's professional standards section has also begun an investigation.
