An off-duty Ottawa police officer has been charged with impaired driving after he was pulled over in Kanata early Saturday morning.
Police said they received a call at about 6 a.m. Saturday about a driver possibly driving while under the influence of alcohol and later found the vehicle at Terry Fox Drive and Hazeldean Road and arrested the driver.
Const. Ahmad Bayaa of the Ottawa Police Service was charged with operating a motor vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 18. He is currently assigned to administrative duties, the Ottawa police said in a statement.
