Ottawa police charge 2 with extortion, weapons offences
Ottawa police's guns and gangs unit have charged two men with several weapons related charges after an incident Tuesday.
The police charged Mohamed Jama and Mohamed Salad, both 25, with using a firearm to commit an indictable offence, uttering threats, extortion and forcible confinement.
Both men were also charged with five other firearms related offences, including possession of a firearm obtained by crime.
Jama also faces a charge of pointing a firearm and Salad was charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited.
Police wouldn't provide further details but said it was unrelated to any other incident this week.
A day earlier a man was shot six times while he was sitting inside a car on Industrial Avenue.
The two men will appear by video in court on Dec. 9.
