The executive director of the Ottawa Mission is leaving her post after more than 20 years, and CBC News sat down to speak with her about her tenure.

Diane Morrison, who was the first woman to run the Mission, said she "softened" the organization. She also said she became a "mom" figure to many workers there.

The biggest problem currently facing the organization, she said, is the high number of mentally ill tenants. She said there should be more long-term facilities for them, and that emergency shelters like hers are not the solution.
