Ottawa man dies after single-car crash near Merrickville
An Ottawa man is dead after his car rolled over into a ditch Monday night near the community of Merrickville, Ont.
Ontario Provincial Police said they responded to the single-car crash at about 9:35 p.m. on County Road 43 about one kilometre east of County Road 23, about 65 kilometres south of Ottawa.
Police said the 1996 Toyota Corolla was eastbound when it left the road and went into the south ditch, where it hit trees before ending up on its roof.
Courtice Douglas Eastabrook, a 34-year-old man from Ottawa, was pronounced dead on the scene. There was no one else in the car, police said.
Technical traffic scene officers with the OPP were on the scene and police continue to investigate.
