Ottawa light rail tunnel tour given to Jim Watson, Kathleen Wynne
More than 50 per cent of digging complete in 2.5 kilometre tunnel underneath downtown
Ontario's Premier and Ottawa's Mayor brought local media along for a tour of the city's light rail tunnel on Monday, marking the first time journalists have gone inside the major infrastructure project.
The 2.5-kilometre tunnel, part of the 12.5-kilometre, $2.1-billion light rail project, is now more than halfway dug after about 10 months of work, according to the federal and provincial governments.
The CBC's Waubgeshig Rice was one of the reporters who went underground with Jim Watson, Kathleen Wynne, Ottawa-Orléans MP Royal Galipeau and other officials.
