They said the suspects broke in while guests were sleeping and stole wallets, electronics and a set of keys, which was used to steal a vehicle.

Det. Chris Cochrane of the Ottawa Police's break and enter unit said one of the leads they're pursuing is that the suspects got hold of a hotel master key, as the rooms automatically lock when closed.

Det. Cochrane said if that is the case, it would be rare and the first he's heard of such a scheme.

The break-ins happened early Dec 19. Police aren't releasing the name of the hotel.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Cochrane at 613-236-1222 extension 4533 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477
