No evidence, witnesses in Carlington shooting on Sunday
Victim, 29, shot once in lower body and was driven to hospital by a friend, police say
A 29-year-old man was shot in the lower body in Ottawa's Carlington neighbourhood on Sunday and got a ride to hospital from a friend, police say.
The victim showed up at a hospital at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday with a single gunshot wound, according to a media release. He had not called police.
The victim later told police the shooting happened around 2:50 p.m. in the 900 block of Hooper Street in Carlington, between Merivale Road and Fisher Avenue.
The guns and gangs unit said they have not recovered any evidence of a shooting there.
A canvas of the area did not uncover any witnesses and no one claims to have heard anything, said Staff Sgt. Mark Patterson.
The victim said he was outside when a vehicle pulled up and he was shot. There are no descriptions of potential suspects or the vehicle.
He has since been released from hospital.
He is not a person of interest to the guns and gangs unit.
