No charges will be laid in the fatal crash that killed cyclist Krista Johnson on Bronson Avenue, police now say, and speed was not deemed a factor in the crash.

The collision happened in the evening of Oct. 18 when Johnson, a 27-year-old Carleton University student, was struck by a car and killed on Bronson just south of Holmwood Avenue.

The student was cycling home from school at the time. Johnson's boyfriend told CBC News in October she was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but he did not know if she had reflectors in the bicycle, or a light.

The City of Ottawa has begun a safety review of Bronson, which includes the installation of a radar sign to clock vehicle speed.
