One of the newest Ottawa Senators, forward Bobby Ryan, is making his first visit to the nation's capital as a member of the team. He visited CBC Radio's Ottawa Morning on Wednesday.
Ryan, acquired in a trade on July 5 from the Anaheim Ducks, is expected to play on the team's top line with centre Jason Spezza. The Senators traded forwards Jakob Silfverberg and Stefan Noesen, plus a first-round draft pick, in exchange for the 26-year-old American.
His acquisition was somewhat overshadowed by the departure of former Sens' captain Daniel Alfredsson, who had been with Ottawa for 17 seasons.
But Ryan has expressed his excitement about playing in Ottawa, where he will receive much more attention than in southern California. He was overshadowed there by all-stars Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.
Last season, Ryan tallied 11 goals and 30 points in 46 games for Anaheim wearing the number nine. He will flip the number upside down and wear number six with the Senators.
