CBC Ottawa's annual charity drive has raised a record $80,640 for the Shepherds of Good Hope as of Friday evening.
The fundraising drive began over the past few weeks with All in a Day's Hopes and Dreams competition, raising money while helping a few listeners do something they had always wanted, from crushing a car at a scrap yard to playing the part of Elizabeth Bennet at an NAC Pride & Prejudice dress rehearsal.
Both Ottawa Morning — which hosted a special show from Tunney's Pasture on Friday — and All in a Day dedicated their programming Friday to telling the stories of the charity and the lives it touches.
Donations are still possible online through the weekend.
The Shepherds of Good Hope provides food for the city's homeless and programs including emergency shelters and supportive living, as well as supplying groceries to more than 21,000 Ottawa families.
