Ottawa police are looking for a 31-year-old man in connection with a domestic shooting in the Cummings neighbourhood on Sunday afternoon.

The shooting happened just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday at a home in the 1000-block of Cummings Avenue, near the Aviation Parkway.

Police responded to find a female victim with a single gunshot wound in her lower body that wasn't life threatening.

More than one shot was fired from a handgun, said Staff Sgt. Mark Patterson.

Mitch Kalil is now wanted by police on a charge of attempted murder. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

He was last seen driving a 2008 grey Land Rover rental with the Quebec licence plate FJC 3383. Police say he might be in the Ottawa or Montreal areas.

The abandoned Land Rover was spotted by a resident in Ottawa Monday. Police have since seized it.
