About 20 brides who ordered wedding dresses through McCaffrey Haute Couture in Ottawa are being asked to call their credit card companies for refunds after the high-end boutique filed for bankruptcy.

The shop on Sussex Drive filed for bankruptcy on Monday, according to Chantal Gingras, president of the bankruptcy trustee firm Ginsberg Gingras.

The company owes about $400,000 to various creditors including the Canada Revenue Agency, the National Capital Commission and the Bank of Montreal, according to Ginsberg Gingras.

About 50 completed dresses will be made available for pickup on a date that has not yet been announced, Gingras said.

Meanwhile, brides who ordered dresses that haven't been completed yet are being asked to contact their credit card companies for a refund, Gingras said. There are about 20 such orders.
