Man thrown 20 feet after being struck in south Ottawa

A man was taken to hospital in serious condition after he was struck by a vehicle in south Ottawa on Saturday afternoon.

A man was taken to hospital in serious condition after he was struck by a vehicle in south Ottawa on Saturday afternoon.

Ottawa paramedics said they were called to an area near the intersection of Walkley Road and Baycrest Drive at 12 p.m.

They said they treated a 21-year-old man for head trauma after he was hit and thrown about 20 feet after making contact with the windshield.

Ottawa police are investigating the incident.

CBC News reported Friday on a new campaign to increase awareness of pedestrian safety by leaving large markers at places where people were struck and killed.
