One man is in hospital and a youth is in custody following an early morning stabbing in Ottawa's ByWard Market.
According to police, two males clashed on the 100 block of Rideau Street near Nicholas Street at about 1 a.m. Sunday.
After a brief verbal altercation, a 17-year-old male stabbed the 19-year-old in the cheek before fleeing the scene. Police say the two did not know each other.
The youth was chased by a witness and captured by police a short time later.
The victim was taken to hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Charges were expected later Sunday.
