The body of a man was discovered after a house fire in Cornwall, Ont., early Monday morning and police are investigating.
The fire happened at 77 11th St. East, in the north end of the city, at about 6:45 a.m., Cornwall police said. Someone walking by the small one-storey bungalow called 911 to report the fire.
When firefighters arrived at 6:53 a.m. they saw flames at the back of the house. It took just a few minutes to put them out, said Cornwall fire Chief Richard McCullough.
The body was discovered in the kitchen while fire crews were ventilating the home of smoke, he said.
Police don't yet know how the man died or if foul play is involved.
The Office of the Fire Marshal of Ontario is investigating alongside Cornwall police.
