A 60-year-old man was rescued from the Ottawa River after a boat he was fishing in flipped on Saturday afternoon at Crystal Beach, paramedics say.
It happened just after 3 p.m. EST.
Two bystanders saw the man floating face-down in the Ottawa River, paramedics say. They swam out to meet him and brought him back to shore.
The two bystanders started CPR until police arrived. Officers then took over CPR and used a defibrillator to deliver one shock to the man.
He regained a pulse.
Paramedics arrived and used advanced life-support techniques on the man. By the time he arrived at hospital he was semi-conscious and breathing on his own.
He was listed in serious condition at hospital.
Crystal Beach is located near Carling Avenue and Moodie Drive.
