A worker in his 60s was killed after being pinned beneath a tandem trailer on a bike path under construction outside the Canadian War Museum on Thursday, sources told CBC News.

Ottawa police are searching for any witnesses that may have seen the crash involving a pick-up truck with a trailer and a construction worker just before 12 p.m.

Paramedics "initiated aggressive resuscitation procedures" after the man's co-workers used a forklift to move the trailer, paramedics said in a news release. He was left with severe injuries to his head, chest and extremities, paramedics said.

The Ministry of Labour is also investigating the workplace incident, Ottawa police said.
