Man killed after motorcycle crash with dump truck

A 39-year-old motorcyclist has been killed after his bike collided with a dump truck at Rideau and Power roads Thursday morning.

A 39-year-old man is dead and paramedics, firefighters and police are at the scene of a crash in rural south Ottawa.

Paramedics say a motorcycle and dump truck collided at the intersection of Rideau and Power roads at about 6:20 a.m. Thursday.

They arrived at the scene and found the man with no vital signs. Firefighters had begun CPR then paramedics took over treatment before they soon declared the man dead at the scene.

The dump truck driver was not injured.

Police closed Rideau between Hawthorne Road and Bank Streets for several hours as they investigated the scene. The road reopened early Thursday afternoon.

The investigation continues.
