A man has died in Ottawa’s far west end, but it’s unclear if it’s as a result of a basement fire at the home.

Ottawa firefighters and police responded to 170 Grey Fox Dr. at about 3:10 a.m. Sunday for a house fire.

They were actually called by paramedics, who had responded to the home for medical reasons. Firefighters said they began CPR before paramedics took over.

But paramedics said they could not revive the man and he was pronounced dead at the scene. They would not release any more details about the victim or what caused his death.

Firefighters battled the blaze, which was contained to the basement. The fire was under control about an hour after crews had responded.

Paramedics said two other residents and one firefighter were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Ottawa police are investigating the fire, which caused about $150,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
