Man approaching young girls, police say
Police warning parents to review safety tips with children
Ottawa police are investigating reports of a suspicious man approaching young girls near Moodie Drive and Richmond Road in recent days.
On Thursday Sept. 20, a man driving a black car approached a 12-year-old girl and asked if she wanted a chocolate bar. The suspect then exposed himself to her, police said.
Then, on Tuesday Sept. 25, a man driving a black car approached two 10-year-old girls, said hello to them, and followed them to their social housing complex, police said.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s or 40s with short, dark hair. He was possibly wearing glasses.
The car is described as a black, mid-size four-door.
Police want to remind parents to review safety tips with their children.
Children should make sure family members know their travel routes and arrival times. Children shouldn't talk to strangers, accept rides from strangers or approach strange vehicles.
If children are being followed they should go to a public place or a known residence, or shout for help.
