A 19-year-old man was found unconscious after he rolled his SUV and struck a tree near the 19th Tee Driving Range early Saturday in west Ottawa. He was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.

A 19-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after rolling his vehicle in Ottawa's west end.

Ottawa paramedics responded to a single vehicle rollover on Carling Avenue near Rifle Road, which is close to the 19th Tee Driving Range, at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

They found the 19-year-old unconscious and trapped in an SUV, which had rolled over and struck a tree.

Ottawa firefighters extricated the man from the SUV and paramedics took over advanced life saving procedures.

The man suffered life threatening injuries to his head, chest, stomach and his arms and legs. He was in critical condition when he arrived at hospital.

The man was the only person inside the vehicle. Ottawa police are investigating.

Police closed Carling between Rifle and Burke roads for the investigation, but reopened the road early Saturday afternoon.
