Police near Kingston have arrested an inmate who went missing on Christmas morning.

Ontario provincial police said 41-year-old Michael Bird escaped the minimum-security Pittsburgh Institution in Joyceville sometime on Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Bird was unaccounted for when they checked in around 10:45 a.m. ET yesterday.

According to police, Bird was found and arrested late Wednesday night.

He is scheduled to appear in a Kingston courtroom for a bail hearing Thursday.
