The Rideau Canal was serenaded this week, Bollywood-style.

Wilbur Sargunaraj, originally from India, recorded and filmed "The Canada Song" in downtown Ottawa last week. The video has since garnered thousands of views on YouTube.

Sargunaraj called Ottawa tourism officials before filming the music video, and dutifully danced his way through their suggestions — a skate on the Rideau, a Beavertail in Byward Market and a stint as a hockey goalie.

Sargunaraj's goal, besides making a catchy tune, is to increase what he calls "cultural intelligence." He's also made videos about the sport of cricket and how to use a toilet in India.

His thoughts on Canada? "Don't be afraid of the Canada cold, the warm citizens from the North are gold. There is so much to see in this big country, and Ottawa is the name of the capital city."
