Osgoode councilor George Darouze launched a petition Wednesday asking the Ontario government to harmonize hydro rates in Ottawa.

The petition hopes to bring lower hydro rates to the 45,000 Ottawa residents who are Hydro One customers.

The Hydro One customers currently pay up to 30 per cent more for their hydro compared to customers under Hydro Ottawa.

"If Wal-Mart can price match, why can't Hydro One," Darouze said in a press release.

The petition can be signed at various locations across the city.
