Hwy 401 westbound reopens at Hwy 15 after potash spill

Highway 401's westbound lanes have reopened at Highway 15 near Kingston, Ont., after a crash caused a tractor trailer to spill its load of 40,000 pounds of potash.

Highway 401's westbound lanes have reopened at Highway 15 near Kingston, Ont., after a crash caused a tractor trailer to spill its load of 40,000 pounds of potash.

The crash happened early Thursday afternoon when a tractor trailer collided with a small car in a construction zone near Highway 15.

The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries while the people in the car were unhurt.

Police have charged the driver the truck with careless driving.

The tractor trailer overturned and spilled potash onto the highway.

The westbound lanes were reopened just after 8 p.m. ET.
