Fad Hashi says it's the stories that keep him coming back for shift after shift as a taxi driver.
After he lost his last job in the printing industry, Hashi said he signed up for courses at Algonquin College to earn his taxi driver's license.
"(Driving a) taxi is a lot of fun, you see a lot of different people, you see a lot of different places," he said.
"A taxi driver is like a social worker, everybody who comes to a taxi will tell you a story."
Hashi said he also has an adult child with autism and volunteers with a program that drives adults with autism to work and volunteer appointments.
He'll be one of dozens of human "books" available at the third annual Human Library, a partnership between CBC Ottawa and the Ottawa Public Library.
On Jan. 25, anyone interested can visit one of five participating branches and "check out" a book for a 20-minute conversation.
Hashi will be at the Carlingwood location at 281 Woodroffe Avenue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
