Hitchhiker, homicide victim Frederick John Hatch last seen in Ottawa, OPP say
Body of 65-year-old found near Mississauga in December
A hitchhiker whose body was found northwest of Mississauga late last year and whose death is being considered a homicide was last seen in Ottawa, police are now saying.
Frederick John Hatch, 65, of no fixed address, was found dead near Erin, Ont., on the morning of Dec. 17, 2015, east of 10th Line off Wellington Road 124.
Ontario Provincial Police had previously said that Hatch had travelled from eastern Ontario the day before his body was discovered.
On Wednesday, police said Hatch was last seen on Dec. 16 at around 1 p.m. near the intersection of West Hunt Club Road and Merivale Road in Ottawa.
Hatch has been described as about five feet six inches tall, with a heavier build and a grey moustache that curves downwards and grey shoulder-length hair.
Police originally said Hatch was found wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans. On Wednesday, the OPP added that Hatch was also wearing a jean vest with Disney characters on the back and was carrying a red-and-white duffel bag.
Anyone who may have seen or met Hatch can call police toll-free at 1-844-677-5010, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
