OPP identify cyclist killed in Highway 7 crash east of Perth
Highway 7 closed in both directions after crash on Wednesday morning
A cyclist was struck and killed by a cube van driver along Highway 7 east of Perth, Ont., on Wednesday morning, closing the highway in both directions for six hours, police say.
The collision happened at about 6:40 a.m. not far from Dufferin Road, OPP said in a media release.
Christopher Smith, 49, from Perth, was heading east when he was struck by a GMC cube van heading in the same direction, OPP said. He was taken to hospital and was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges had been laid as of Thursday morning, OPP said.
